The science of archaeology can tell us a lot of things about an ancient artifact, or even a whole ancient city. It might be able to tell us the age of what we're looking at, how it was built, and what it was used for. It can't always tell us all of those things, though. Sometimes even the best archaeologists are left just as confused by the things they discover as we are.
