The latest find, a preserved double gravesite comprising the bones of a man, his wife, and mummified animals, including cats and mice, was made public by the Egyptian Ministry of Antiquities.

Egypt discovers a new tomb with a perfectly preserved colored walls and dozens of mummified animals.

The discovery, which was made public on Friday, is thought to date back more than 2,000 years to the Ptolemaic period. About four kilometers from Sohag, in the city of Akhmim, was where the tomb was discovered.

According to Dr. Mustafa Waziri, Secretary General of the Supreme Council of Antiquities, "it's one of the most exciting discoveries ever in the area."

The tomb is made of two rooms covered in colored pictures and inscriptions.

The finding of 50 animals and a human mummy was the most impressive. In the tomb, mummified versions of eagles, falcons, ibex, cats, and mice were discovered.

The ministry claims that after a gang was apprehended trying to smuggle antiquities out of the side of a hill, the entrance to the burial ground was found. The site was given to Waziri and his group for archaeological excavation following an examination.

Archeologists found about 50 mummified animals in the tomb, including cats and mice.

The grave is thought to be that of TuTu, a high-ranking official, and his wife T-Cheret Isis. The names of the deceased's family members are written in inscriptions that have been perfectly preserved on the walls. The two-room tomb's vibrant colors have been astonishingly preserved.

The discovery of two limestone jars containing human remains and a collection of stuffed animals during excavations, according to the ministry, shows that the tomb was reused at a later time.
