The discoveries make it more difficult to understand the exact origins of some early South Americans. The genetic heritage of some of the earliest humans on the continent was discovered at archaeological sites in Brazil, Panama, and Uruguay. Remarkably, The presence of DNA from extinct human species such as Neanderthals and Denisovans was been found by researchers studying the genomes of ancient South Americans.
